Faults & location

How loud is the device?

Not disturbing at all. The noise level is less than 30 dB.

How strong is the noise from wind turbines?

At a distance of 5 m, it is 36 dB, which is roughly equivalent to the volume at which people talk to each other.

Are there any vibrations?

No, there is not.

Is the system dangerous for birds?

No, not at all. No problems were observed due to the arrangement of the rotor blades and the continuous rotation.

What is the minimum distance between wind turbines and residential houses or buildings?

Thanks to the latest technological developments, it can be installed directly on roofs or in gardens.

Where is the construction of wind turbines restricted?

All places that are legally protected areas, such as national parks, historic buildings, etc. Of course, we do not recommend places where there are wind holes or where it is rarely windy (based on data from the last 10 years provided by the local weather company/weather institute).

Project & Technology

What is the difference in performance between conventional wind turbines and vertical axis wind generators - and why?

Conventional wind turbines achieve around 35 % of their rated power, while vertical wind generators can achieve over 75 %. The reason is that the vertical system drives the generator directly, which increases efficiency.

Are there subsidies for vertical axis wind generators?

Yes, the state-owned company Pronovo AG supports the feed-in tariff for electricity from wind power with CHF 0.23/kWh.

Can the system be combined with solar systems and energy storage units?

Yes, we offer outstanding individual solutions for efficient power generation and storage.

What technology is behind the generator?

The generators are based on principles described in specialist books - but in a much more advanced form.
The i-WIND generators are also based on known physical principles, but to the best of our knowledge they are more efficient than all previously built generators, especially at low speed.

Why is i-WIND particularly suitable for low-wind locations?

Inland - as in Hungary - the wind is often irregular, with fluctuating direction and speed. The i-WIND control system is able to feed in power synchronously with the frequency of the AC grid, which enables maximum utilization even in changeable wind conditions.

Why should I install an i-WIND wind generator?
